Bachelor Auction to Benefit Shelter from the Storm In these tough economic times when abuse rises and funding for charities falls, 12 generous valley bachelors will walk the 40’ runway of the big white fashion tents off El Paseo, offering up date packages of unbelievable value.

Tickets are limited to the first 300 enthusiastic ladies who will have the opportunity to bid on these eligible gentlemen on Monday, March 29th with all auction proceeds supporting ‘Shelter from the Storm’, a local charity that provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence. The event kicks off at 5:30pm Monday, March 29th with Man-Tini’s, a Crater Lake Vodka cocktail, well named for the occasion. 12 Bachelors will start the evening off mixing and mingling with cocktails and appetizers. Moving into the main tent at 6:30pm, dinner will be provided by Castelli’s Ristorante paired with wines from Heck Estates, all part of the auction ticket for the evening.

The Bachelor Auction will follow on the dynamic Fashion Week El Paseo runway at 7:30 pm until the last bachelor is sold! “Ladies get ready to bid on Pampered for a Year, Sedona Getaway, Phantom Evening, Golf in Carmel and so much more” says Diana Marlo, event organizer “Spas, Facials, Fillers, Private Dinners...very exciting auction date packages this year and you may just meet the man of your dreams!”

Tickets for this year’s charity Bachelor Auction on March 29th are on sale on-line www.bachelorauctions.com with only 300 dinner tickets available at $130 per person which includes complimentary Man-tini cocktails, appetizers, dinner & wine and the bachelor auction. All auction proceeds support ‘Shelter From The Storm’.

The Desert Art Center will be celebrating its 60th Anniversary starting Friday, April 2, evening “Meet the Artists” reception 6 - 8 p.m.; Saturday, April 3 and Sunday April 4, with DAC artists demonstrating and selling their work in the park at the back of the building. This 3 day event marks a truly incredible story of an non-profit organization that has lasted 60 years and continues to thrive in these days of hard economic times.

On the first day of Spring, March 20th (Sat) The Mojave Desert Land Trust will have a very special event to protect the wildlife habitat of Quail Mountain! 

We have an opportunity to restore critical wildlife and desert tortoise habitat in the Quail Mountain Project Area, just north of Joshua Tree National Park. We need volunteers to help us on a fun day of desert restoration. 



March 20th (Saturday) 
Time: 9:00am - 3:00pm
 Location: Meet at the corner of Sunset Blvd and Skyline Drive in Joshua Tree. Please bring water, lunch, gloves, sunglasses (eye protection), long sleeve shirt, long pants, sunscreen, wide brim hat and hiking boots.
 The land trust will provide extra water .

April 29th, 2010 Dining Out For Life, one day event held in over 50 cities throughout North American, In 2009, over $3.5 million was raised for HIV/AIDS serivce organizations. Ted Allen’s of Food Network, Pam Grier of the L Word and Felipe Rose of The Village People are the Ambassadors for Dining Out For Life.

Community Drumming with Master Percussionist Sam Sloneker, Monday, March 29, 7 to 9 pm in Friendship Hall. Come join the fun! “Studies have shown that participation in group drumming offers a number of worthwhile benefits, including artistic self-expression, community connection and interaction, an expanded sense of self and heightened sense of belonging, increased rapport with others, relief of stress, emotional balancing and strengthening of the immune system, “ says Sam Sloneker. Participants are encouraged to bring drums, shakers, tambourines, etc. A number of instruments will also be available at the event. There is no charge to attend although a suggested donation of $5 per participant or $10 per family will be welcomed and appreciated. For information call 760-365-8371.
