The Desert’s advertising community awarded its highest honors, the ADDY Awards, at the American Advertising Federation Palm Springs-Desert Cities annual ceremony held Friday evening, March 12, 2010, at The Palm Springs Riviera Resort & Spa. This year’s competition included 210 entries judged on creativity, originality, and creative strategy by a team of three top advertising and creative professionals from Los Angeles, San Francisco and Las Vegas. Copper Mountain Broadcasting, the Morongo Basin’s home of Country KX96 (KXCM) and Top 40 radio station KQ92 (KQCM), was given the highest award received by radio.
They received the Silver ADDY in the category of Local Radio Campaign. Gary De Maroney, President and General Manager of Copper Mountain Broadcasting, stated that this award shows the caliber of production that originates from our Morongo Basin. Copper Mountain Broadcasting is proud to have been the only Radio Broadcaster to win creative recognition at this annual event. The American Advertising Federation includes graphic designers, illustrators, copywriters, creative directors, direct mail specialists, marketing professionals, media sales representatives, research analysts, promoters, printers, media buyers, photographers, videographers, scriptwriters and public relations professionals.

Joshua Tree’s ace axe man singer songwriter award-winner guy Tim Easton was in Austin, Texas for SXSW. Showing his guitar art and playing some choice gigs, Tim snapped this picture of a bizarre encounter with heavy metalesque band Gwar on an escalator. Does it get any weirder? Tim promises to let us know when he gets back… Also the fab Lynda Kay hit SXSW and played a choice opening slot for Hank III.

Charities from around the valley will be tuning into Team 1010 Sports Radio this Monday to find out if they’ll have a shot at winning $1 million at the Toyota/Kraft Nabisco Championship Celebrity Hole-in-One Shootout in one week. Terry Wilcox with the Kraft Nabisco Championship will make a live announcement on Julie Buehler’s “Sports Buzz” show on Monday at 4 p.m. to announce the names of the non-profit organizations selected to compete in the first-time event. The Toyota/Kraft Nabisco Championship Celebrity Hole-in-One Shootout on Monday, March 29, at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif., is the final leg of the Kraft Nabisco Championship’s new Integrated Wealth Management Tickets Fore Charity program. More than 90 charities participated in the fundraising program this year in which 100 percent of the proceeds from ticket sales are being donated back to the charities. |
