The first ever Bistro Escondido wine and cheese tasting will be held on Saturday, June 5th at the Starlite courtyard in Joshua Tree. They will be serving a fabulous selection of mostly French and California cheeses, alongside other yummy snacks and treats. Tickets are $25 and include a tasting flight of 4 different wines. We will be serving all French and California wines of lesser known varieties. Haven’t you always wanted to compare a French Pinot Noir to a California Pinot Noir, preferably during sunset, with a little plate of cheese and in the company of some fabulous Joshua Tree friends? If you’re looking for something fun to do this summer – come on down to Palm Springs VillageFest! The popular weekly street festival which runs every Thursday night along Palm Canyon Drive between Baristo and Amado roads from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. during season – will start an hour later during summer – from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. beginning Thursday, June 3. Look for special events and live entertainment at VillageFest this summer. Organized more than 19 years ago, VillageFest is consistently voted the best weekly event in the area – attracting thousands of visitors and offering more than 200 booths with art, handcrafted items and unique food. Splish, Splash, Blast 2010 Summer Carnival - The Palm Springs Public Library, along with other local organizations and nonprofits, including The Desert Water Agency, Palm Springs Art Museum and Palm Springs Power baseball team, will host this fun-filled event on Saturday, June 5 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Sunrise Park. It will be a free and fun time for families to come learn about all the activities available in Palm Springs during the summer.
There will be games, arts & crafts – and an opportunity to test your fast-pitch with the Palm Springs Power baseball team and much more!
Make a Splash – READ! Summer Reading Fun Fest June 5- July 31
The Library will officially kick off its popular 2010 Summer Fun Reading Fest on June 5. The eight-week program, which runs through July 31, gives readers of all ages an opportunity to read while earning prizes and participating in special activities and programs. This year’s Fun Fest theme is “Make a Splash” and will highlight water in all programming activities. The Fun Fest will conclude with a finale celebration on Saturday, July 31 with a special guest performer and prize giveaways – including a desktop computer to be given away to one lucky youth (grades Pre-K -5th) and a laptop computer for teens (grades 6 -12). So make sure your kids continue learning and improving their reading skills this summer -- and sign up your family!
