RockYard presents girrrrl power bands this summer. Priss is a clever take on KISS. These ladies don full face makeup and rock out just as hard. They call themselves the sexy alter ego of the greatest rock band of all time. Their website says, “these girls will rock and roll you all night long. Don’t let the name fool you, their seductive costumes and explosive stage show will leave you hotter than hell.” Priss and their platform boots get to the Rock Yard on Saturday, July 10th.

All Rock Yard shows are free and open to everyone 18 & older. See what other bands are playing the Rock Yard this summer and fall at www.FantasySpringsResort.com.

In The Shaman Chef: My Life and My Recipes, Renee Baribeau, director and owner of the Desert Holistic Health Network, tells how she overcame neglect, abuse, addiction, and chronic depression by creating life-sustaining rituals based on her own intuition and teachings from various spiritual traditions. Renee’s natural gift for cooking saved her from an early death with drugs and alcohol, but when it deserted her she had to discover a new menu for survival. This memoir, a bountiful mélange of memories sandwiched between mouthwatering recipes and uplifting rituals will make you laugh, cry, and look at how your own life stories nourish or hinder your healing. The book is organized according to the seasons of the year, as they are represented in the ceremonial medicine wheel of many indigenous tribes. Each season corresponds to a stage of life in the process of human development and to an initiation in the larger sense. Renee reflects on the gifts and lessons that each season has brought her and discusses the challenges and obstacles that she has encountered in “walking the wheel” on a journey toward wholeness. Today, Renee is free from the constraints of her lifelong mood disorders. She enjoys being awake and fully present in the Now moment of her life and is devoted to encouraging others to find their own rituals for healing and recipes for living.
